I was recently invited to give a lecture to a group of forensic psychiatrists in Oxford at The Oxford Clinic, Littlemore Mental Health Centre, and it was a pleasure to do so.

The talk focused on the relevance of evolutionary psychiatry to forensic practice — an area where I think evolutionary thinking has a great deal to offer, even if it doesn't always get the attention it deserves. The discussion afterwards was lively. It's always nice to be asked to speak to colleagues working in different corners of psychiatry, and the trip to Oxford made it all the more enjoyable. It was a particular pleasure to meet Hasanen Al-Taiar, who I found out is old friends of the illustrious Riadh Abed - so it wasn't his first exposure to evolutionary thinking about psychiatry! It was also a pleasure to give the presentation to trainees who immediately asked for the contact details of Tom Carpenter in the trainee group of EPSIG. I hope that we'll have a few more converttees to the cause and to see them around at future events.
